About Me
My name is Alastair McColl, and I have spent more than 30 years teaching Music and Music Technology to children and young people aged 5–18.
I graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, with a Bachelor of Education in Music with Honours, specialising in composition.
Throughout my teaching career, I have written songs specifically for primary school children — music that is enjoyable to sing while helping reinforce important ideas and learning concepts.
Alongside my work in education, I have extensive experience as a performer and songwriter, with writing and co-writing credits on tracks that have achieved more than 170,000 Spotify streams, alongside streams across Apple Music, Amazon Music and YouTube.
